Questions and Answers

What do I wear?
We recommend for all our students to wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. For the more advanced classes you may wish to invest in a good pair of dance shoes to improve your spinning and technique. Feel free to check out our shop page for brand new and discount dance shoes.

Do I need a dance partner?
No, not at all. There are always plenty of people to dance with and Latin dancing is  very social. During the class we will often switch partners as this will ultimately make you a better dancer and it's a great way to meet new people.

How often do I need to come to classes?
You can come to classes as little as once a week. It is recommended to do a little practice in between classes even if it is only the basic steps. We also offer extra practice at our studio on Wednesdays at 6.30pm till 7.45pm for FREE and on Fridays at City Club at 818 Colombo Street  from 9.30pm till 10.00pm. If you decide to do more than one class a week we encourage this as you will progress much quicker. We also offer heavily discounted prices for extra classes.

How long will it take me to learn how to dance?
The amount of time it takes to learn Latin dancing is totally different for each individual. Most of our students are on the dance floor in as little as five weeks. The Merengue dance will get you dancing straight away. We teach Merengue as well as Salsa within the first five weeks of the beginner's course as it is the easier of the two Latin dances. The more practice you put in the quicker you will learn.
